There’s no shortage of great sushi restaurants in Los Angeles, whether it’s exclusive 10-seat counters or its infamously casual strip mall gems. But as of this spring, a very big fish in the sushi game has now come ashore with a new concept in the City of Angels.

The much-lauded omakase restaurant Sushi Nakazawa, which has locations in New York City, Washington, D.C., and a forthcoming location in Los Angeles, recently launched Hi. Dozo, a premium delivery-only omakase experience available exclusively on DoorDash. What does this mean for you? It means you can experience a six- to 12-course omakase from a Michelin-starred chef in the comfort of your own home.

The brainchild of sushi master Daisuke Nakazawa, Hi.Dozo, which translates to “Hi, here you go,” is designed to appeal to both sushi connoisseurs and newbies alike. Each simply beautiful Hi.Dozo box reflects the commitment to high-quality ingredients and artistry that anyone lucky enough to taste the 21-course omakase at Sushi Nakazawa has come to expect.

"Omakase should be for everyone, and I am happy for Hi.Dozo to be a part of it,” says chef Nakazawa.

Each omakase box highlights ingredients like the restaurant’s nigiri, made up of a special soy sauce, sake, and mirin blend. Nigiri and rolls are made with locally grown California Tamanishiki rice flavored with the same house-made seasoning used in the restaurant. Akami and O-toro tuna, prized for their texture and taste, are front and center in each omakase box.

All of the above are available in special color-coded boxes that feature Hi.Dozo’s signature table logo (meant to signify that you’re about to take a seat at chef Nakazawa’s table). Ordering options offer a range of sizes, including The Dozo (8 pieces of nigiri, plus tuna sashimi, futo maki, and edamame), The Chef’s Choice (8 pieces of nigiri selected by the chef, plus tuna sashimi, futo maki, and edamame), and The Deep Dive (12 pieces of nigiri, plus tuna sashimi, futo maki, and edamame). For those looking for a more hands-on experience, there’s The DIY, a hand roll kit that includes four types of fish (toro, yellowtail, salmon, and ikura) over a bed of rice, with nori, pickled cucumbers, and seaweed salad. Each box also comes with soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi.

Customers can also mix-and-match their delivery orders with additional sides of sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, as well as pickles, seaweed salad, and edamame.

Hi.Dozo is available via DoorDash to North Hollywood and its surrounding areas, including Toluca Lake, Burbank, Sherman Oaks, and Hollywood Hills. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. For now at least, the rest of Los Angeles will have to wait with bated breath for Hi.Dozo’s omakase delivery.
