The holidays + family + lasagna is just a natural fit. It’s one of the best ways to feed a crowd, and doesn’t have to be complicated to put together. Check out this ground turkey and Italian sausage lasagna recipe from Lorenzo Espada:

Ingredients

Meat sauce

  • 1.5 lb ground turkey

  • 1 lb mild Italian sausage

  • 1 Tbsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 48 oz tomato sauce of your preference

Ricotta mixture

  • 32-48 oz ricotta cheese

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 2 Tbsp garlic paste

  • 1 Tbsp black pepper

  • 1 Tbsp dried oregano

  • 1 Tbsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 large eggs

Lasagna

  • 1 lb cooked lasagna noodles

  • 1-2 cups shredded mozzarella/cheddar cheese mix

  • Parsley, for garnish

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

In a large pan on medium heat, add ground turkey and sausage. Cook until all ground meat has been fully cooked. Drain ¾ of the grease, then add oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to the meat.

Once the meat has been seasoned, add in tomato sauce, taste, and adjust seasoning to your preference. Allow meat sauce to simmer for 30 minutes.

In a large bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, garlic paste, black pepper, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, and 2 large eggs. Mix well and set to the side.

In a large baking dish, begin layering in the following order: meat sauce, ricotta, lasagna noodles. Repeat until no more ingredients are available. (Meat sauce should be the last layer.)

Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the lasagna until lasagna is completely covered. Add foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes or until the cheese has begun to brown.

Remove from the oven and allow lasagna to sit for at least 10-15 minutes. Garnish with parsley,  serve with garlic bread and enjoy!
