When it comes to ordering delivery from Xi’an Famous Foods, your best strategy is to enjoy your food as soon as possible. All noodles are made to order, and thus a bit more fragile than your average delivery meal. If the food needs a bit of a reheat before eating, here’s Xi’an Famous Food’s step-by-step instructions for reheating your noodles and dumplings while preserving their integrity.

How to Reheat Noodles in Soup:

Every soup noodle dish comes separated into four parts: noodles, protein, soup, and sauce(s). If you order a spicy dish, you’ll also receive a packet of chili oil and crisps. Once your delivery order arrives, here’s how to warm up and combine all the components for optimal flavor and texture.

  1. Reheat the soup only, so it’s piping hot. This can be done on the stove (recommended) or in the microwave.

  2. If you’re using the stove, pour the soup into a pot or saucepan and set it over  high heat. Bring to a boil and let cook for at least one minute, then remove from heat.

  3. If you’re using a microwave, heat on high at 60-second intervals, stirring in between to ensure even heating, up to three minutes.

  4. Meanwhile, cover the protein (to prevent it from drying out) and cook 1-2 minutes in the microwave. You can use the original takeout container with the lid opened a crack to let out heat, or a microwave-safe bowl covered in plastic wrap. Note: If you requested extra spicy, the extra chili seeds are already in this container, and may be reheated with the protein.

  5. Empty the contents of the noodle container into a bowl. This will include cooked noodles tossed in sesame oil along with blanched cabbage and any other vegetable garnishes (eg. cilantro).

  6. Pour the hot soup into the bowl of noodles and vegetables, allowing the soup to gently reheat the noodles. DO NOT microwave the noodles—this will cause them to stick together and become mushy.

  7. Add the entirety (or slightly less, depending on your taste) of the noodle base sauce to the bowl of soup and noodles, and stir to mix.

  8. Add the heated protein on top.

  9. Drizzle on the chili oil and crisps to taste, and slurp away.

How to Reheat Noodles (not in soup):

Every dry noodle dish comes separated into three parts: noodles, protein, and sauce. Similar to noodles in soup dishes, if you order a spicy dish, you’ll also receive a packet of chili oil and crisps. Here’s how to heat everything up.

  1. Inside the noodles container you’ll find cooked noodles tossed in sesame oil along with blanched cabbage and any other vegetable garnishes. We recommend enjoying this ASAP, as reheating is not ideal for the noodles. However, if you must reheat and want the absolute best results, you can boil a pot of water, and quickly blanch the noodles — they’re already cooked, so this is simply a quick dip in boiling water to reheat them — for about 30 seconds. This process will also reintroduce a bit of moisture, making the noodles softer and easier to dress.

  2. Meanwhile, cover the protein (to prevent it from drying out) and reheat 1-2 minutes in the microwave or on the stove. You can use the original takeout container with the lid opened a crack to let out heat, or a microwave-safe bowl covered in plastic wrap. Note: If you requested extra spicy, the extra chili seeds are already in this container, and may be reheated with the protein.

  3. Combine the noodles and protein in a bowl, and add the entirety (or slightly less, depending on your taste) of the noodle base sauce.

  4. Drizzle on the chili oil and crisps to taste.

  5. Toss all components together with tongs, and enjoy!

How to Reheat Dumplings in Soup:

All dumplings with soup come separated into two parts: dumplings and seasoned soup. Here’s how to reheat them for the most comforting bowl. This can also work for leftover dumplings.
